ZeroDivide's We Are Media Team

Meet the team from ZeroDivide:

Jessica Eting, Program Associate
Jessica supports the work of the Community Investment Team and has been increasingly involved in the use of social media by the foundation.

Jessica has Friendster, MySpace, Twitter, and LinkedIn, but they are barely used. She has actively used Facebook since 2004 and just started blogging for ZeroDivide. She has also been instant messaging since Junior High and uses other sites such Yelp, Last.fm, Meebo, and Pandora.

Ruth Williams, Community Investment Officer
Ruth is responsible for a portfolio of media-related social justice grants and initiatives that strengthen families and empower young people through the use of information and communications technologies.

Ruth is a social media novice and just started actively using her Facebook two weeks ago and just started blogging on the ZeroDivide site.

Margaret Stangl, Development and Communications Manager
Margaret works closely with the Chief Strategy Officer in developing and implementing the Foundation's efforts in fostering strategic communications for social change.
Margaret is an advocate for social media use professionally but does not use social media personally. She blogs and posts media regularly on the ZeroDivide website.

John Hoffman, Director of Business Development and External Affairs
John is responsible for developing strategic partnerships leading to growth capital for the foundation’s investment portfolio.

John Hoffman has been addicted to his Facebook for about a year and posts the occasional blog on the ZeroDivide website.

Paul Lamb, Community Innovator
Paul is a consultant and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in business, nonprofit management, technology and public policy. He is a graduate of the ZeroDivide Fellowship program and now works as a consultant for the foundation.

Paul has a lot of experience with social media. Below is a list of what he uses.
  • Social Networking: LinkedIn, Facebook, Plaxo, Twitter, Friendfeed (for 2-5 years)
  • Blogging Platforms: Blogger, Ning, Wordpress (4 years)
  • Wikis: Mediawiki, PBwiki, Socialtext (3 years)
  • Mobile social media: Brightkite, loopt
  • Miscellaneous: various iPhone apps (Twitter, Pandora, google earth, etc.), iGoogle, Google apps, Zoho, Xobni, Evernote, StumbleUpon, Skype, Google Talk, Dopler, Flickr, etc.

ZeroDivide's Use of Social Media:

Facebook:
ZeroDivide Group is a closed group used to interact with our investment partners and other friends of the Foundation. We also have ZFellow Beta, which is a closed group used by the current and former ZeroDivide Fellows to interact with each other and ZeroDivide.

Website:
ZeroDivide's website includes a blog, videos, and podcasts. We also use an internal blog for staff to document their work and share their thoughts only with staff members.

YouTube:
ZeroDivide's channel showcases videos of our work and of our investment partners.

What we hope to learn:
We hope to make ZeroDivide's use of social media more effective by learning the best practices for social media and creating a useful strategy for all staff members to follow.

  1. Great job putting this together, Jessica! I forgot to mention in my profile that I've also used LinkedIn, Twitter and Yelp! I also read numerous blogs, mostly about dining out in SF.
